Sakura in Singapore: Hello Kitty & Friends Bloom at Gardens by the Bay

Spring has arrived in Singapore — and it brought some very kawaii company.

For its 11th edition, Gardens by the Bay's annual Sakura display at the Flower Dome is welcoming a crew of iconic Japanese characters. This year, you can meet Sanrio favourites Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin and friends amid a breathtaking sea of blooms. It's the crossover we didn't know we needed — and it is absolutely adorable.

Meet Your Favourite Sanrio Characters 🎀

This is the big one for fans. Scattered throughout the floral display are photo spots featuring kawaii Sanrio characters Hello Kitty, My Melody and more — all adding to the charm of the blossoms around them. Whether you're a lifelong Sanrio collector or just love a good photo op, these character installations are not to be missed.

Tip: Visit on a weekday morning to beat the queues at the most popular photo spots!

More Than Just Flower

Beyond the blooms is a curated series of programmes highlighting six distinctive Japanese regions — such as Tohoku and Shikoku Island — to fully immerse you in Japan's diverse heritage. Look forward to traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, mochitsuki demonstrations, and folk and dance performances.

Cultural highlights include a graceful koto performance, powerful taiko drumming, a lively Sparrow Dance from Sendai, and an uplifting choral showcase featuring songs from both Japan and Singapore.

For those who want a hands-on experience, witness the graceful preparation of classic matcha paired with Japanese sweets at the tea ceremony — held on weekends at various timeslots on a pay-as-you-like basis, with all proceeds going to Gardens by the Bay's Gift of Gardens community outreach programme.

Plan Your Visit

The Sakura display runs daily from 9am to 9pm, and tickets to the Flower Dome start from $12 for Singapore residents and $46 for non-residents.

Getting there is easy: Take the Circle Line or Downtown Line to Bayfront MRT Station (CE1/DT16), or the Thomson-East Coast Line to Gardens by the Bay MRT Station (TE22).

Final Thoughts

Whether you're a Sanrio superfan, a cherry blossom lover, or simply someone looking for a beautiful weekend outing, this year's Sakura display at Gardens by the Bay truly has something for everyone. It's a rare and magical collision of Japan's most beloved cultural icons — both the flowers and the characters — right here in Singapore.

Go before it ends on 15 April 2026. The blooms wait for no one. 🌸
